Why should you care…. (and why you should SHARE this post… please!)

It’s live!

The new fundraising site that wanted me to be among their first is now on line, you can see the site here:

Crimso! (<- Click!)

To prepare for this funding drive, I took some time to look at the thousands of other people out there begging for money… and to be quite honest, it made me feel quite humble.

When I look at all the people who have had houses burnt down, lost their jobs or their spouse…  When I see the projects from people that are far more talented than I am, one can’t help but feel a bit embarrassed to even ask for a penny.

So I thought you deserve to know what I will do with the money.

Anyone that has been within earshot of me for the past decade can tell you “I am going to build a haunted house ride that will change the way amusement parks build rides!”

But  I want to tell you what your money will create beyond an amusement park ride.  Because if I was just building a ride, I don’t think I would deserve anyone’s money, time or attention.

Here is what I am really doing:

* I will give people one more big reason to come to York. We won’t just be “on the way to Baltimore, Philadelphia or New York” anymore. We will continue to bring tourism to this area.

* I will continue to use my project to showcase the many talented people that go undiscovered. People who’s talents and gifts won’t be shared unless we give them a platform to show off their ability.

* I will create jobs, and while other projects can say the same thing – every single job is important to the person that is doing it.

* I will continue to support local charities. Every year we have collected food and donated money to local charities to help the people that are less fortunate than us. I need to help more people!

Most importantly…

I know that every single person was put on this planet to do something important. And if they don’t share that thing, then the world will never know what it lost.

THIS is what I am here to do. And when I do it, I will help others share their gifts as well.

So, if you would be so kind – please visit my project page, and even if you can’t donate – please share a link to this post or my page. Sharing would help just as much as a donation would!

Thank you for your time reading this. It means the world to me.

Regards, Chris

Weekend quickie!

I have to give a shout out to my new friends at

They have a great do-it-yourself section that show how to build props and save hundreds, if not thousands.

I built this fog chiller for under $75, and in less than two hours of time.

It’s a really cool design it actually uses the heat generated by the fog machines, along with the Venturi effect to actually amplify the fog that comes out.

If anyone is into Halloween even half as much as me, I would suggest giving their website you visit.

Contest Time!

Sunday, September 15th, 2013 08:03 am GMT -5

The name “Sinister Shadows” was created by Mark Koppenhaver. The moment I heard it I knew that is was the perfect name for the haunted house! To me – it says everything it needs to in just two words.

Now I am looking for some help with a name for the snack-bar area of the haunted house attraction.

I’d like something simple, yet food related.

The best example I have of this is:

The Rainforest Cafe is (in my opinion) the perfect name for the restaurant! It tells you everything you need to know in two words.

So I’d like to find something as inventive… Ideally you would know that there is a restaurant / snack bar in the area because of the name, not because you can see hot-dogs on a roller grill.

If the name you submit is selected, you will be awarded one of the remaining Sinister Shadows Limited Edition Posters, and a permanent place on our “Supporters Wall of Fame“.

There is no set time frame for this contest. Just like the name of the company – I’ll know the right name the moment I hear it.

Things to remember: This is a classic haunted house ride that is going to be family oriented. The name can’t be anything that invokes unpleasant imagery or be offensive. Although I could go for a tongue-in-cheek name like HOOTERS, it can’t be anything that would alienate people just by hearing it. (Like HOOTERS!)

Please submit comments directly to the blog and not on Facebook. (There are just too many different places for me to “lose” information on Facebook!)
